This is my first modding kit. Case is already a bit modded with blue LED 80mm fan and 2 blue LED 120mm fans and a mutant modes meteor light kit.

Should become major eye-candy. I even plan with the UV lights, to grab UV reactive pens and outline the wires on my video card and do some outlining on the motherboard as shown in this guide:

One question, has anyone tried cutting acrylic plastic? Wanted to add another 80mm fan hole into my side window but nervous it might crack.. so I did not order another fan. Better to be safe than sorry. :cool:
 
it will only crac if you try to go to fast and really push the blade into the plastic, slow down and let the blade do the cutting at its own pace.
 
yeh, the whole idea of modding is doing it yourself to bring a personal touch to your PC, gettin someone else to di it kinda defats the object.
 
for cutting acryl. dont puch the Saw, because the acryl will snap. and get a saw with fine tooth. and if you want to do it really right, you have to clean the saw pretty often, because of the acryl getting between the tooth of the saw :)
(well,.. at least those are my expieriences with acryl :) )

hmm, nice advice there archangel, thanks, im going to be cutting acryllic soon so i will also take that into account, thanks.

One more thing, remember that there should be a goal that you wish to achieve when modding. There is not much point in just buying things so that "I have what the other guy has." Make sure that it has what you want it to and that makes you feel like you have done something you are proud of. Good luck and post your results.

Thanks.. already planned what I'm doing with the stuff before hand. Unfortionatly... I just read two reviews that stated the Sunbeam liquid neon light kit is unsafe and causes serious electircal interference. I read one review before I went to purchase them.. and that review said nothing about electrical interference. Those two other reviews were made in the beginning of the year... just wondering if sunbeam improved the product? Since I'm sure they would of stopped selling it if it caused problems.

Also read that cold cathlodes can sometimes explode and cause damage.. or if the inverter goes, everything goes with it... is this true?

However, majority of the time I will have the lights off.. which should extend the life of them. Also, I have a test power supply.. so i'll be testing everything for a certain amount of time before I install it.

Cutting the acryl is not that hard, just follow advice of others. The tricky part is drilling the hole to put the saw blade into to start the cut. There are special acryl/plastic drill bits at places like Home Depot. Drilling without the proper bit will crack the acryl. If drilling using any bit go very slow and do not allow the acryl to heat up to the melting point. After drilling and sawing the acryl, use a file to very carefully and slowly finish the edges on the inside of the hole. Use as fine a tooth file you can get. If you want a real proffesional finish on the edges of the hole, file, sand using very fine wet or dry sandpaper and when a smooth as possible, use a butane torch (or lighter, barbbq style) to heat the edges very slightly until the fuzzy edges become clear.
Its not that hard but recommend playing with a spare piece of acryl. Also when drilling or cutting acryl make sure you have a very sturdy backing supporting the acryl (styrofoam about 2" thick works well) Do not allow the acryl to bend at all.
