Creating a new partition

I've installed windows XP Pro on my new laptop and only have one partition. I want to create a new partition, is this possible? without having to reinstall windows? thanks i love you guys.

As far as I know, to create a new partition you have to format the entire hard drive, which would mean reinstalling Windows as well... Sorry :(

oh crap! that's ok though. As far as I know the only purpose of another partition is so you don't have to lose all your important files and videos if you ever need to reformat the partition with windows on it. And as long as I get an external harddrive that should be ok!

thanks my brother.

Pretty much, yeah. I keep all my data on one drive, and just leave the programs on the main Windows drive, that way if I need to format, the programs are the only thing lost, and since you basically can't use programs after reinstalling Windows anyway, there's no loss there at all...

doesn't partition magic do that??

Partition Magic said:
Partition Magic allows you to create, resize and merge partitions on your hard drive without destroying data.

yeah good utility realy, you can also resize the ones you have if you feel they are too big/small.

I tried downloading partition magic but they only have demo versions available that won't let you complete the operation. bull!!
