creating bar graphs or pie graphs?

This is something that should be easy to do using Word. Insert provides options for these graphs and pie charts, but how are these actually done?
Does anyone know how to do this so that I can label the graphs, or change the height of the columns or the size of the slices to fit my data?

Powerpoint and Excel are a bit easier to manage graphs. I don't have much experience doing it in Word.

I usually just do my graphs in Excel and copy-paste them over. But I really don't know how one would go about actually creating graphics in Word, no.

After you open up a chart, Excel will open next to it and you can insert your information there. Also, a special tab called "chart tools" will open at the top of the page (this is all in Word 2010, by the way). There will be 3 tabs underneath that: design, layout, and format. Under the layout tab, the button called "data labels" will allow you to label your chart in the way you want it. To change the slices, look under the design tab under either chart layout or chart styles. I hope that helps. If you're using another version of Word, I can probably assist you with that too.

Thanks everyone.
I kept at it, in Word 2007, and figured it out. I went to insert, then selected graphs, it offered columns, pies, etc. So from there it provided like an Excel with cells, so I could select the row, column, or slice/quarter, then I could also type in to label each. Then I found a way to either label the slices themselves, or have a color-coded key at the side.
But I do appreciate being able to come to the forum for suggestions, because there's always someone who has ideas that help.
Thanks again.
