Creating Multiple Printer Instances

Hi,

I am a newbie in computing but i want to create another instance of a printer that is already installed on the network. I want to have the different instances with different settings, for example, one would default to print in draft while the other, in a normal/high quality.
I thought i was successful but although i have another icon being displayed, wheni try to print to it, i get an error message.
Can anyone help?

The network won't have anything to do with that. It just transports the data from one place to another. A network printer won't behave any differently than one attached to your computer in terms of printing parameters.

You can either set the priting parameters on the printer itself or in the application doing the printing (or the O/S). That is true whether the printer is local or networked. When you change the parameters for a print job you will still need to do it either at the printer or in the software outputting the print job. Only you can say whether the software you are using is capable of doing what you want to do.
