Hello everyone. I am new to computer forum and i have used this place for help and i know there are alot of smart techies on here so nice to meet you all.

Ok for my problem i recently got my computer reformatted at Computer Trends and when they reinstalled windows they only put one 300gb partition on it. I would like to switch that to about 50gb for the os and 250gb for everything else.

What program do you recommend to create and resize partitions for Windows Vista x64 edtition.

thanks in Advance

The tool for partitioning is built into Vista unlike XP. Right click "My Computer Icon", select "Manage" and then "Disc Management". Know first what space you have available then choose Simple Partition, follow the Wizard instructions.

Well the problem with that is the entire hd was one partition so you cant just create new partitions with the built in tool its only good for unallocated space.

But i did find a program that worked awesome its free and easy to use.

Partition Wizard, it takes about 15 minutes to do.

But i kind of screwed up i went and made the c drive with the OS 50gb now theres only 5gb free space although i have nothing really on the comp yet. And my new partition is 200gb. Is there a way to transfer 50gb from my 200gb to my c drive.

Before you do any partitioning, defrag your hdd a couple times... otherwise you'll have to limit your partition or it'll go all over the place.

I had no problem with using Vista's disk management. All I did was shrink the 1 partition I had by however much you want allocated for the second partition, then you take the unallocated space and make it your second partition. Only problem I've had so far is resizing partitions, that you need a 3rd party software.
