Criteria to select a RAM

I have a Core 2 duo 2.33ghz processor and 1&2Gb(Total 3GB) RAM in 2 slots running Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Initially i just had 1Gb RAM. But later I wanted to upgrade the RAM. So i just took my 1GB RAM from my PC to a computer store owner and asked for a suitable 2GB RAM. Since i had two RAM slots i'm using this combination of 1+2=3GB for past two years and sometimes i got a blue screen error. So is this combination correct ? If not what changes should i make considering what ? Can i use 2+2=4Gb ? If yes what are the things to keep in mind to buy a RAM ?

Your motherboard supports 4gb of ram (2 x 2gb sticks) DDR2 400/533/667mhz.

In order to find out why the blue screens are happening, please do the following.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.
