Looks good, but you could save some money by going with the 1GB GTX285, memorys above 1GB dont improve performance very much.

Whats to criticize? Six big fans might be a bit loud, but cooling should be great. What RAM and monitor you getting?

As I said in your other post. Nvida doesnt gel well with i7.

Got for a ATi.

Nvidia works fine with i7... heck, evga sells probably the best i7 motherboard out there. Where are you getting your information from? Might wanna double check your sources on that... Speaking of which, if you have the budget for this mobo then it would be worth it:

Who knows. But yeah in my great quest for research about the 955, I came across it quite a bit where the Nvida didnt go as well with i7's.

And the 955 was only released alittle while ago so the tests for it would have been recent ish?

That article there I found on a 955 review where the author explained the i7's bad performance by saying "an old gremlin is back to haut us" lol then had a link to the above.

The article date says february on that article, so we are missing 3+ months of driver updates.. Id love to see a review right now though with variables eliminated, such as fresh installs between changing cards, same hdd's, same gpu's, etc. Only change being the mobo+cpu.

The 955 review was like 30 days ago. Lol

Anyway.. Just my two cents, I might look around abit and see if the issue actually has been solved.

well im not 100% set on going i7. but the cost to build a badass phenom II 955 would only be a few hundred less than a badass i7 build. so if im spendin 1500 bucks whats a few hundred for the i7? thats the way i see it but if im wrong pls tell me. im not set in my ways. and yes bomberboysk that is within my budget.

Yeah, i7 is quite a bit more powerful than the phenom II's, but (apparently, just learned it within the last hour from stildawn) there is some nvidia problems with i7. My guess is since that article about it was from a few months back it was driver issues, but atm im googling to see what i can find. But imo- go i7+GTX285.

also i should state my goals. id like to be able to completely max out crysis even if i have to sli the gtx285. the main reason i say i want to be able to max out crysis is because if i can max it out.... i can run any game within the next few years with ease. can this build do this?

What res will you be playing at? You should be able to have playable rates maxxed with no AA at 1920x1080 though..

well my current 19'' monitor is good for 1440x900 so my res wont be very high for awhile. wont exactly does aa do anyway? what would it take to run it at 1440x900 with 8x aa or something? sli gtx285s?

i get playable rates on very high with my gateway prebuilt 1.8ghz cpu and gts250. not extremely playable but 20-25 fps. i would hope this new build with an i7 and gtx285 would be more than just playable lol
