crossfire and SLI

hey,
i'm a noob and i'm just wondering, what is crossfire and what is SLI? and which is better?
From what i have read it sounds like they mean 2 cards or something, not sure though.

so if you could give me a hand that would be great!

Exactly, it means combining two or more cards to increase performance. Crossfire is for ATI cards, and SLI is for nVidia cards, one isn't necessarily better then the other. If you want to know more, check this out:

Having two or more cards isn't always better. You could get one card that's better than three put together; although, it would be pretty expensive.
