Crossfire or get a better card

Right now I am running an ATI 5770 and so far its been running great. It can handle most games on high but in some games like BC2 it will stutter once in a while.

My question is it better to get another 5770(Around 160$) and crossfire it with my existing 5770 or sell my current card and get something better like a 5800/GTX 400 series card?

Depends on what you can get for the card, what motherboard you have, and what psu you have. Unfortunately I am on my phone and about to take an exam so I can't look up your motherboard or psu so someone else will have to help you with that :P But I would say if you can get it sold for a really good price, maybe something like$ 120 or so, I would probably go with a better single card.

Hey i'm new... and this is just my opinion, the better the card the more you will be happy. I'm also having the same problem is it my card or just because i have little ram (2GB)

spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo (2.20GHz and 2.19GHz)
2GB Ram
1TB HDD (only Mod..So far :)
Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family for my G.C.

When gaming my pc lags when i look at anything but a wall or floor, it's not very bad but its getting anoying, it's only when i game though..

Thanks :)

Get a 6870 or 6850, They are cheaper than the 5800s and perform pretty much the same. Also you don't need a Large powersupply to run them.

looks like you should be fine with the power supply and 2 5770s but you are coming close to cutting it close (:P).

looks like your board can do crossfire and even though it is only 16x/4x you won't notice too much of a difference (compared to 16x/16x). eh, i am kind of torn now. on the one hand, you probably end up with more performance per dollar spent if you get another 5770 but then you'd have to try selling 2 of them down the road (when they'll become virtually worthless). i guess i would say try your best to sell it for anything above $120 or so (which you should be able to do relatively easily) and get either a 6850 or 6870 (i would go with the 6870). if you absolutely can't find anyone who'll buy it for that much, it wouldn't be the end of the world just getting another 5770.

a message for randommeep, it is your video card. I currently use an older PCI video card because it is better than the onboard graphics, mind you I've overclocked the video card. It is definitely the video card, you have plenty of RAM to play decent enough video games. RAM is just memory - you only notice a difference if you don't have enough. Video cards are definitely the most important upgrade for graphics, and they also have their own video RAM.

could you recomend a good card under $100? I don't need something powerful. At least 500MB+ and can support over 1280x1024 resolutions....Thanks

Better off getting a 6850/6870 or a GTX 460. With a second X4 PCIe slot, waste of time to run C/F.

So the general opinion in this thread is to get something in the 6800 series. I'll be buying a new vehicle soon so I wont make the decision for a while. Something better will probably come out anyways. Thx

Well Two 5770s is like a 5850, and I think two draws more power. If I were you I'd Upgrade to a 68xx card, or a GTX 460 1GB. Your motherboard's second slot is a x4 mode anyways. If you play games that support PhysX, you could use the x4 slot for a cheap card like a GT 240 or 9600GSO or 9800GT or.... a bunch of other cards.
