i have a 14" LG Studioworks 454v monitor, and i use it like about 15 hours a day.. Do i need a protective screen or its still safe for my eyes??

It's tough to say. Does it strain your eyes? Some other things to try are setting a higher refresh rate. I don't see how a protective screen could hurt though.

If you spend that much time looking at a CRT, I'd recommend you invest in an LCD. Try it one day and you wont go back to a CRT. It's much easier for your eye and if you spend that much hours looking at it, the investment is worth it. You only have one set of eyes.

about any effecs i'am noticing .. then i feel that burn in my eyes, but maybe its bcoz i wake up too early or due to a lack of sleep.. and secondly i'am sitting in front of my monitor on a really unusual position like my legs up and folded vertically ( yes i do this ) , i get this pain in my head.. thou it never happens when i sit normally.. and i've noticed that the direction which my monitor is facing is probarly throwing all the radiations to my left eye and i notice that the burn feel is hell more in my left than my right ( or maybe its in my mind ) ..

so, in short.. i'am not getting a LCD , so which is the best protective screen available worldwide

Then why don't you try fixing your posture?

I'm not sure about protective screens. What I do know is you definitely, if you're not getting it now, should still make your next monitor LCD. I used to get that burn in my eyes when I had CRT almost every day. The day since I got my LCD (about a year), I've never had any straining or burning in my eyes.

When was it made? The only eason you should really need a protetive screen is for radation, which new monitors dont rlealy have much of a problem with.

A good protective screen will cost you proablly over half as much as a new better CRT that wont have the problem. Depending on where you live i would check www.craigslist.org for a used pme. You can pick up free 17 incers all the time.

14" monitors haven't been made in a long time, so I suspect that age is the problem.

What did I say about the radiation?! That is not a problem any more! http://www.monitorworld.com/faq_pages/q14_page.html

If you want the LCD monitor then get it. If you want the protective screen then get it, but quit re asking the same questions over and over again.

Few PCS bad for eyes??

It’s starting to get annoying, just do something! geez.. Plus if you sit in front of any monitor for 15 hours, your eyes will become strain no matter what...

Patience is a virtue my friend. But I have to agree with you here, any monitor, for 15 minutes will cause eye strain.

My bro uses the same monitor and he never noticed anything like that.. so is it me? My monitor is kinda old.. i don't remember how much but atleast like 3 years?

15 hours? sounds like your muscles might deteriorate, but dont worry your eyes should be fine. lol
quite like muscles, eyes need rest too. plenty of sleep and maybe an aspirin if you get a headache should be just fine. this is the sort of thing you may want to ask your doctor because he knows your health condition but generally speaking don't sit too close to the screen.
kind of like walking or running (or even standing) all day, your eyes might need a rest. close them for 15 or 20 minutes, or maybe take a break from what you're doing and just rest your eyes.

definitely. i've had probs like that and i got a headache that lasted a week! your really need alot of sleep and maybe a few days off the comp... i always stay off on sundays... but thats just me

alright.. then there is one more thing that i fixed my monitor but there is still one problem remaining.. Its brightness levels increases and decreases itself periodically.. for some reasons! :(

Dont need to get angry here... final thing is get a newer monitor..(ive probably never even seen a 14" anymore) or get the protective screen

if you dont want to spend the money..then just get off the computer and dont stay on it for 15 hours

i'll go for the protective screen but how can i be sure that its actually bringing the radiation within safety levels?

Again with the "radiation"? Your starting to sound paranoid..

The protective glass stops light from glaring on the screen.
