well i have got 2x crucial C300 sata III 64gig ssd's along with a startech PEXSAT32 pci-e sata III card.

i want to raid these ssd's together, i know i loose trim function but i have heard there is an agressive garbage collection on these drives.

do you think raid0 these cards on that specific raid card would be a good idea?

i was toying with the idea of having my operating system running off one ssd and all my games and programs on other ssd for quick loading up rather than raid?

my question is - RAID0 or seperate.....

any advise would be helpfull as it is the 1st time attempting raid, if this raid card is no good then i would purchase a new card.

Would the RAID be on SATA III or SATA II ports?

Opps, should read the entire post before replying. I'm surmising that your MB doesn't have SATA III ports hence the PCI-E card. People running the C300s in RAID are very happy with the results on the SATA III ports (Marvell 91xx) when using the Microsoft driver, but not the Marvell driver. The SATA III Marvell controller on the X58 MBs doesn't pass the TRIM command anyway so anyone running an SSD on an X58 is relying on GC. Mine is benching like new at two months use now with GC. I'd RAID them.

Id also Raid them,Instead of having them independant drives.

You should still have enough space for Windows plus the odd few games you play the most.

I cant wait until those Pci-e SSD,s come down in price,Amazing performance....no more Sata Cables!

the pci-e card is using the marvel drivers, i was getting nearly full rated ssd speed using the marvel drivers...

would it be worth un installing the drivers and use windows>?

Yea, I don't know if you would get better results with the MS driver with your controller. In this review using the Marvell 91xx with the Marvell drivers RAIDed C300s didn't do well indeed,

(Good comparisons if you look at the screenshots under "Additional Tests," - about two thirds of the way down the page)
