Crysis 3, poor framerate on a good computer

Look, as shown here, even a 680 or 7970 gets FPS mins of below 30FPS. That makes first person shooter games very hard. You will get frame drops when action is happening.

Even CF and SLI had this issue. You crank it to MAX, like i said, MAX and a 660Ti will get owned.

Clearly an issue of drivers, but still, its a silicon whore of a game.

Strange how it says that SMAA Medium is the highest playable setting though, and that anything higher made it unplayable. Certainly not the case on my computer, in fact I went through all the different AA options trying to find one that looked the best, and none of them had any impact on performance for me whatsoever.

Then you are doing something wrong or are overiding the settings in the driver.

My driver is set to application controlled, will probably actually change that to override anyway now that you pointed it out. So unless the AA setting in the game does not work, I dont see what the problem could be. The AA was certainly working in the game.

EDIT: Forcing 32x CSAA through the driver did take a noticeable performance hit. However, none of the different AA settings in the game make a difference when going from low to high. But seeing as the highest on them is 4x, perhaps thats why. Turning the AA off in the game however did provide a more steady framerate with little to no drops. And on the 32inch TV screen Im playing on at 1080p, I saw no difference between having the 4x AA and no AA during normal gameplay. I did notice the 32x, but only just. From the distance Im sitting though, Id have to get closer to see any jaggies. Which is probably why I still havent found the "right" AA setting in that game.
