crysis fps

I play crysis on a core2 6750 with 2gb ram and a G92 8800GTS 512MB. I played at 1024x768 and default medium settings on all but I am only getting an average fps of 20to30. Is this normal for 8800GTS or I should have better off go for the 8800GT instead?
What sort of fps would the 8800GT have?

That's wierd, I'm playing on all highest settings (1024 X 768, no AA) with about 30 FPS. Maybe the extra 2GB of ram is helping?

i get about that with my 8800GT.

it is very hard to get crysis on high frames per second even with a really expensive system. so dont worry if you think your system isnt performing too well. pretty much no ones does. :D

actually on second thoughts, on medium settings i would have expected a little higher..

Yeah I agree with you but I just felt that the extra spending on the gts version does not yield any improvement at all.
Looks like 8800gt can play as well as 8800gts.
By the way, I only played in medium and getting only 30fps at most.
Can't expect to get more if on high.

Is this the G80 or G92 GTS? I play on High with ~30FPS...

4Gb of RAM yields a noticeable performance increase... I might upgrade to 4Gb myself.

What motherboard do you have?

yea, more ram pretty much always = faster gameplay. even if you have the best video card in the world, your games will be slow if you don't have enough ram for textures, sounds etc to be loaded into

the pc in my sig will get around 40-50fps with all med settings. 10-20 with all very high.
at 1280x1024 res and aa disabled.

Could I even play the game with 2.66ghz dual core, 2gb ram(upping to 4) , Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 PRO 512MB DDR2, PCI-Express, 2xDVI-I/Tv-out/HDMI, 128bit.
On any settings

mep916 probably has the best system on computerforum... itd be interesting to see what kind of fps he gets on max settings

lol yeah i was thinking about that. who has the best system? i havent seen a better one then his yet lol.

I have the gigabyte P35-DS3 mobo. Anyway, how do you guys lists your system specs at the bottom of every post reply?
I was thinking to make things easier when using the forum.

Just go to "User CP" (On the bluebar above the new thread option) then go edit signature.Heres a link also

Thanks shenry for showing the way to list the rig.
I am getting random lag when playing crysis using the rig listed somewhere below I guess. Sometimes the game will just freak out and freeze in the middle where the sound started to be distorted.
Anything to do with this rig setup?

With all settings on "Very High," 1680x1050 res, and No AA, I'm gettin' around 21 FPS. I've found that that setting isn't very playable. With all settings at "High," I'm getting 43 FPS. The benchmarks were conducted using the benchmark_gpu batch file in the Bin32 folder.

Earlier, I ordered two more gigs of the Ballistix and I plan on installing Ultimate x64. That might help a little. :D

Manually set your RAM timings to 5-5-5-15 2T in the BIOS. It may not help with your Crysis problem, but those are the optimal latencies for the Ballistix. That's how I have my timings set. Your rig can def handle Crysis. Which driver version are you using?

I am using the latest forceware 169.25 driver. It is just weird that crysis is lag on my rig as compared to KOF.

Just to add on. Is there a risk of overheating by manually setting the ram frequencies to 5-5-5-15? I have heard that ballistix tracer are hot and best to leave it to default settings.

No, it won't increase the heat. Raising the voltage of the RAM will, however, and that is not necessary when adjusting the timings. Your BIOS recognized the timings incorrectly, they are not the default timings.
