Crysis Uber Desktop Build - $3700 TO SPEND!

I don't think ubers a word, but hey. If you had $3500 to spend on computer parts at newegg.com, what parts would you buy. The machine is wanted to play Crysis on maximum everything, at at least 1920 x 1200, with 35+ fps. Processor must be a quad core, and the machine must have at least 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD (7200RPM SATA), Vista Ultimate, and a 24" monitor with DVI.

I'll post what I'd get in a minute.

EDIT: Would be willing to go to $3700 at most, if 8GB RAM included.

WOW, nice budget!!! I'll do a build for you!!!

Thanks for the enthusiasm there. It's for my cousin in the US - we'll be going there in a couple of weeks, and he's gonna order this weekend so I'll build it while I'm there. You don't get to build one of these kinds of PC's everyday!

Budget = $3,500

Total - No Rebates - $2,761.89
Total - After Rebates - $2,731.89
Total saving on rebates - $30.00

With the left over money, he can get a good sound card and some nice speakers. Maybe even run dual screen, or get a really good keyboard and mouse, it is up to your cousin.

The budget's gone up. He's completely willing to spend the $3500-3700 for something that will max Crysis out - he's richer than me. Waah!!! Sorry, I must've edited after you posted. Thanks for the build though, looks great!

Thanks for those, but don't have office atm. I take it the excel file is some kind of calculator? I'll have a check later.

Where did I put that disk. . .

lol, yeah, excel using formulas and stuff, there is the PDF file there as well, but in excel you just plug in the numbers and it works it all out for you :) i made it myself :D

Nice, I'll use that in the future - make the numbers easier. I couldn't even use Calculator to tot up my build without f***ing it all up! Thanks.

Just to let you know on your build there really isnt to much of a performance increase in tri sli with those gtx280s its like ten percent or something. at the most get two 4870x2s

two 4870x2's perform worse than tri sli, the main reason being, crysis favors nvida gpu's because of the way its programmed

How did I do?

Nice build. I think I'm gonna combine all of the ideas you have posted, and see whether I can get as much as possible for the money. Will be built in a couple of weeks, so thanks for all your input.

The performance increase in TriSLi is 23% (according to an overclocking review or the XFX GTX280's XXX OC'ed Edition 1GB in TriSLi and SLi). Crysis (and now Warhead) much favour nVidia GPU's, and from observation, CoD4 runs at the same kind of quality on ATi and nVidia cards, but the nVidia is slightly faster.

cohen - this is a Crysis machine. Not sure if you knew this or not, but the game was built more so around NVIDIA's architecture, so while the 4870 X2 might be top alone, Tri-SLI will kill two of them. Especially on Crysis.
