Crysis Wars

well i dont own the game but I hear it runs great on a Quad Core with an 8800 x 2

Is the game actually any good?

It's damn fun, once you get the settings figured out, it's really fun.

In Wars, you can do everything you can do in Warhead, go invisible, super strength, armor, speed.

It's well worth the $30.

i have the demo and just play it with my Q6600 at 3.0GHZ and 2 8800GT overclocked to 705mhz core and mem 951mhz in SLI at very high, 1440x900 with no AA.
id say try overclock your 8800 to same and see if it works, if not look into a E8400, Q6600 or even the Q9400

Yeah, I'm probably going to pick up an E8400 tomorrow.

Thanks.

How would I overclock them to the same clock? Just do it individually?
Should I just clock them higher then, or are they fine at stock?

And is EVGA Precision good?

yeah the E8400 is a good chip and it a good overclocker someone on here has it running at 4ghz, cant argue with that

i just used ntune to overclock my GPU's, just so you dont burn your GPU's out i wouldn't go much above what i did, when i tried at stock i got about 10-15 fps and with 705mhz and 951mhz i got around 30-35 fps (playable). might get a bit more with a higher overclock but ill let you find out, i dont want to burn my GPU's out.

Hmm, OK, what do you think the best clocks would be, for me to notice a difference in games?

The 705MHz and 951MHz? Did you go from stock to that? And what did you use to stress them?

I have aftermarket coolers on them, and they're currently idling under 50C, Top one around 48C and bottom one is around 42C.

Thanks.

Thanks.

yeah 600/900 to 705/951, i use the crysis stress test and Nurien Tech Demo, both gets about 30-35 fps. those idle temp are fine, i wouldn't let them get above 75-80c but on the crysis benchmark mine get no higher them 60c

GPU's are but not my CPU.

these are all at gamer settings, which is equivalent to high from the original crysis. my FPS is a little lower than i'd like, but i haven't tweaked it at all. i just set everything to high and jumped right in. so far it plays exactly like crysis, and looks about the same IMO. if there were performance changes, i haven't noticed them yet. still, it's fun so far. i will post more once i get a little bit further into the game

when my PC is idle it generally uses around a gig of my ram, and I was playing earlier and noticed i was using 3.5 with no other programs running. 2.5 gigs for one game, that is insane. has anyone else noticed this?

does it run smoother that crysis?

definately for me. (I jsut have motion blur set to low, since its like useless anyways! :D other than that, a mix of highest and high settings. and I play with AA enabled) ran smooth through the whole singleplayer game like that.

its quite a lot like crysis tough, so if you didnt like that, I gues you shouldnt get it. tough, its not only aliens you have to fight now at the end of the game, its 3 parties shooting eachother, making it quite fun imo.
