cs-1.6 vs source

well i used to play source a loooooong time ago and can't remember much except that cool shield you can carry... i also have source and play it often but i was wondering which one is better ? which one do you prefer and why?


i've seen youtube vids of 1.6 and it looks like 1.6 is sort of a realism version of source... it takes less shots to kill someone which i like very much... does anyone agree?


could i download 1.6 for free these days since its such an old version? anyone have a proper link?
 
No, you have to buy 1.6 from Steam. Either that or you could try the CS Pro mod for CSS, which incorporates things from 1.6 that were left out or modified in CSS. I haven't tried it myself yet but you can clearly see from the screenshots that they've gone back to the old maps. However CS Pro is currently just a beta version so expect bugs.

It's a riot shield which you can buy, though you can't use any assault rifles, shotguns, SMGs or sniper rifles while you have it. Here's a video.

I could never find a download link for CS Pro, or have they not released it yet?
 
You might have to sign up, I'm not sure. I assumed it had been released as some of my friends were talking about how it compared to CS 1.6.
 
I personally like source but i never played 1.6 for more than an hour or so.

@omega, yeah i had to look all over the site. Sorta rediculous, maybe thats why no one plays it :P You go into the announcment section in the forums then they have a link under the threads that say "Beta Released"
