cs:s file downloading when maps are loading

are there any files that can be downloaded that are somewhat universal among all servers that will allow me to connect to a server and not have to wait for a ton of sounds and other files to be downloaded?

Games like Counter Strike: Source along with HALF LIFE(remastered) and HALF LIFE 2 as well as several others require logging onto an existing account created when you first registar where files are then accessed and downloaded at that time. This is why you will see internet connection required on those. I've never seen a universal format for this.

well it depends if the server creator specifies their own directory for downloading mp3 or wav files.

Lets say you have already downloaded 1.wav 2.wav and 3.wav into cs/sound folder. You log on to another server and it download the SAME 3 files to the cs/sounds/bigtime3 folder....

It does get really annoying when there are 30+ files to download. Thats why I use favorites.

He already has the game, he is talking about mutlitple wav (music) files being downloaded before each server connection.

Downloaded or opened by the game when connecting? If the same files are downloaded to the same folder you would be prompted to choose whether or not to overwrite the files already there. When you access each server the files are opened not copied to the drive. The files on the drive were installed for offline not active online gaming.

The one way to see if they are being downloaded to the drive would be to move the existing files to a temp folder to see if duplicates are then placed there by a server. It sounds like each server automatically provides those files to insure the game is complete. I assume you are referring to death match servers?

Gah, if I only could remember the damn console command which filters the downloads. Try writing find filter in the console, should be something like downloadfilter or similar.
