CSS can't connect?

I installed CS:S again and found that maybe 90%+ of the servers I can't connect to. They show up in the list and that, but I go to connect and the windows appears but the ping rises and it can't connect. There are maybe 10-15 servers at most I can connect to, but I can't remember them and none are the game types that I want.

Have any of you found the asme issue or know of a fix, because this is bloody annoying, I used to be able to go on just about any server
 
To continue on from Linkin93's post, check when the last update was by right clicking on CS:S in steam My Games and update news, but since if you just re-installed it that shouldn't be the problem.
Did you install it by a disc bought from the shop, backup disc or steam download?

Another reason could be because you haven't set the filters to UK/Britain/Europe which ever one it is and you are getting mostly servers from other countries? Too high ping usually results in a kick or unable o connect.
 
Check filters.

Then the generic fix for valve games:
Right Click -> Properties -> Local Files (Tab) -> Verify Integrity
Also try "Defraging Cache"

Those arent directly related to connection issues (I'm pretty sure) but doesn't hurt trying.
 
I have it on steam and just installed it, so it is up to date and will stay so, because of the steam auto update.

I assume it is already on Europe for the filters because just about all of the servers are from France, with a few from Germany and a couple from UK...but can't connect to any still. And I am not VAC banned before someone mentions that could be an issue :P

My ping is fine, I try to connect to servers that are between 20 and 100 ping, of which there are a fair few, but they all do the same, the connection screen comes up, the ping rises to 2000 and won't connect
