Cursor Jumping

Hello All,
I have a weird and irritating problem. When I am typing in Word and I go to type an apostrophe, the cursor goes up several lines, inserts itself in the middle of a sentence and all of a sudden I am expanding an existing sentence.
Anyone ever heard of this problem?

Is it just with the apostrophe that this happens?
Are you on a laptop?
Does your mouse skip around sometimes as well?
