O.k i have built myself a duel core amd machine,
put it all together, all the lights and fans came on. booted stright into installing a fresh xp.
Install went through perfect.
then the next day when trying to run age of mythology it crashed and said "cannot find user32.dll", tried loading different programs all came with same error, so i rebooted system but this time didnt but up just displayed message "error cannot locate Windows\system folder"
so i went for a fresh install, install failed while copying at around "50%" saying it could not find a certain .dll on cd, so i tried two other copies of xp prof, all failling during the windows copy process between 35 - 55%.
so i fiddled with the ram, replaced ram tried different slots, tried whole new sticks. finally got xp to reinstall using a much reduced 512mb ram stick. When i had windows reinstalled i rebooted computer during final stage of reboot it gave me a message saying windows has found an error and would need to close, tried rebooting a couple of times each time it just rebooted by itself with no error message .now when ever i try rebooting i receive BSOD saying " unmountable_boot_volume.
Have tried setting my settings in BIOS to fail safe mode but no go..
any ideas people? and a small round up of my system is
450psu
amd 4200 duel core
1.5gb ram 1gb + 512mb
1 ide slow on MOBO, ide cable goes to both Harddrive and DVD drive.
big case FAN, tested system temp, it doesnt over heat
