Custom building a laptop

So hey everybody. I'm new here, and joined because I've started exploring computers. I have two questions:
1.) Where can computer parts be bought?
2.) If I were to custom build a computer, how do I make sure all the parts I order will function together?

Sorry, I know they're kind of general, but those are my questions.

Thanks,

Depends where you live geographically, if your American Newegg seems to be the go.

I don't really think people custom build laptops though. If you have a laptop you can upgrade components like RAM or replace the HD with an SSD.

Custom laptop building had a very short phase a few years ago, but it did not take off you get very few kits now and they are quite poor.

MSI still makes many barebones notebooks that can be used to build laptops, called MSI Whitebooks. However, it's somewhat complex, and if you're just starting out you would probably be better off building yourself a desktop. ;)

i'd stay away from custom building a laptop. just doesn't seem worth the time and effort

but i use newegg all the time. they have great sales and i've never had a problem with any product i've purchased
