Hi. I want to build a laptop from scratch, buy the case, cpu, m'bd, gpu etc. Is there any possible way to do this? As far as I am aware you cannot buy laptop cases, and would it be possible to buy an oled panel to use for the display?

MSI and Sager sells laptops with the GPU, panel, battery, and motherboard that you can use for this, but they cost a lot. You will be much better off just going for a customized mass produced laptop.

It sounds like an interesting project but it will never cost-effective, even if you do manage to find a place to buy all the parts needed

Not to mention its SMT (surface mount technology). Not easy to do. Would require a solder iron that is very fine. I paid $150 20 yrs ago. Temp controlled and grounded.
