Cutting Costs off First Build...Please help!

Hey Guys,

I'm still pondering a build...

I'm hoping to shave a few dollars off this build... but overall I am wanting a build that will last me a good 3-4 years, and support any gameplay for that period.

take the 3570k it is much cheaper and you are by far good with that:)

the 670 is better, it is newer and im nvidia fan:P

you should drop your monitor to 24" you are good with that too and you will save up around 150-200$

i think the hdd is good enough for you but im not an expert on HDDs..

oh, and a question because i heard that the OCZ Fatal1ty's were a bit suck:confused:

I'm definently set on a 27" monitor I think... I have a large space to fill.

Hmm... 7970 vs. 670! Idk which 1 is better... but from what I've heard, the 7970 can easily outclock the 680? Not sure though...

I think that PSU will be allright... and it's pretty cheap.

I think the 3570k is the way to go, cheaper: How far can I safely overclock it with the CM Hyper 212?

A GTX 680 is faster than a 7970 when both cards are at stock speeds. A GTX 670 would be more than enough for you though.

You can overclock the 3570K by just raising the multiplier in the BIOS.

Does anyone have information on these new hybrid drives? They would really save some cash if they perform like SeaGate says they do.:good:

Depends which 7970 you go for. If you go for one with stock cooling, you can probably overclock it by about 20-50MHz (guessing here), but if you go for one with aftermarket cooling you'll likely be able to overclock a lot further.

There are some great pieces of software out there which will help you overclock - MSI Afterburner is one of them (I don't think you even need an MSI card to use Afterburner either).

Thanks for confirming. :) Yeah I was gonna mention EVGA Precision too but again I didn't know if you needed an EVGA card - apparently you don't. :)

When you enter your info to get the download of precision it will ask you who manufactured your card. I've entered Dell, Nvidia, and VisionTek and never been denied the download. I think they are just happy your using their program over others. Back in the day, before Precision X came out I liked it. I could get 100 MHz more out of it than MSI Afterburner on the NVS135m. But precision X does not look good to me, and is far too complicated. If you don't have a HD7000 or GT(X) 600 card, I would look around for the pre X version of precision.

Non-reference designs like HIS IceQ have better designed coolers. Either that, or you can get a reference card, then buy something like the Artic Cooling triple fan cooler, detach the stock heatsink and replace it.

The reference card's cheaper.. And I think it looks better too!

The 7970 has 3D capability I believe... What is 3D computing like? I heard you can get headaches...
