Cutting PC cost without major perfomance drop

So, u guys helped me build a pc in the other thread but I was wondering if there is any possible way to cut some of the cost whilst keeping the perfomance more or less the same or at least with no hugely significant losses.

i wouldnt even bother with doing that....the gts 250 doesnt compare with the 5770...and the 5770 probably idles at a lower temp/wattage
 
i see.. well I want to cut costs but I dont want it to have too much of an impact.
And as i said before, its a gaming computer so Ill jst go for the better video card or ill probably regret it later.

But cant I get a cheaper DvD/case/ram?

If not then I guess i jst have to save for a while longer...

Also, I have not included the OS, which windows 7 is recommended for gaming? or jst for general use?
Home premium?

Performance wise...the GTS250 and 5770 are dead on, the only advantage to a 5770 is DX11...which isnt really that useful IMO.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit is the way to go.
 
thanks for the reply bomber. So does the DX11 affect gaming at all?
if it doesnt i might aswell save the 60 quid


EDIT: nvm that, i did some research and apparently DX11 is a bit of an overkill for my case.

is it affirmative the GTS250 will have the same perfomance as the 5770? (apart from DX11 ofc) if so then ill definetly go for it

Will the:

all have the same perfomance more or less?


I dont mind not having DX11.
 
i think u missed the (2x) after the name of the ram :P
its 2gb to start with then ill get a 2gb stick when i get more cash.

But my real question is regarding those 3 graphics cards

Yeah, I missed that. My bad. In my opinion, when DX11 is really heavily used, the 5770 won't be powerful enough to really use it fully anyways. For your budget, look at the 4850. The 4850 will perform as well as the GTS 250 for a lower price.

atm im using my backup monitor coz ther other broke so im gaming at 1024x768 but im hoping on getting something around 22" in the future
