D-link router problem

Hi,

My friend's router works fine until today, there is no internet connection. The wan light is on, but the other port1-port4 have no light. (He connects two computers in port 1 and 2, 1 is connected via wireless and the other is connected with a wire.). And he can't access to 192.168.0.1 neither.

I'm suspecting his router is defected....Any idea?

Okay im sure the cable/dsl is fine w/o the router

SO you have the Cat 5 wire from the Cable/dsl to the incoming port of the router correct? From this you have the slots 1 and 2 with cat 5 wires to other pcs?

If so try unplugging and waiting a minute... first the cable... plug back in and then the router...

You may be way past that already but I just needed to double check

Yes I did all that. And you are right, cable/dsl is fine w/o the router.

huh.... so wireless and lan both dont work.... I had a problem like this... I just kept resetting the router... rebooting the PC.. routers are a pain in the ass

could it be the "blue wire" problem? but if it is, do you think the wan light should be on? (The wan light is on in my situation)

yeah, the one from the cable box to the router...is it the same as a normal cat 5?
