I have a Dell Latitude D610 here which is constantly running the clock speed of 800Mhz and the processor should run at 1.86Ghz

I have several D610s available and have tried all the processors from those machines, all display the same 800Mhz yet in their own machines work perfectly. Also have tried changing the ram and hdd but no luck

Anyone help?

It is more than likely an Intel power setting in the BIOS. There should be something in the BIOS that will allow you to change that.

It's call Intel Speedstep, look for it in the bios. And if for some reason you have an AMD processor, its call AMD Cool and Quiet.

what bios level are the ones that run @ 1.28nhz and the one @ 800mhz.

Dell just had a mandatory bios upgrade for D630 w/ nvidia video to cover a nvidia mistake...so
flashing the d610 could not hurt...followed by disconnecting the cmos battery for a few.

Dell won't be releasing any D610 bioses as they are quite old laptops.

I think when they say they're running at 800 mhz they are actually running at their full potential.

I possibly thought that but when it was sat beside 4 other D610s all running at the correct speed it was ALOT slower. Took atleast a minute longer to get into windows than the rest
