damage to fan

i cant belive it!!!

was inside my case trying to tidy the cables up (the job we all hate)

and for some reason my finger went inside one of my processor fans, i think i was distracted by a friend-anyway i snapped one of the blades on the fan

absolutely gutted-my case now vibrates and is noisy as hell.

i am just concerned incase there would be any heat damage etc, my heat censors only picked up like a 1-2degree increase.

"do you guys think that it would still be ok to run pc with this damage?? i can put up with the noise, just i want to sell pc soon to a friend and i dont want there to be problems l8r on down the line"

if you only see 2 degrees increase then that wont be a problem, just watch out, if you leave it on for a while, the fan may die on you because the bearings will get shatered, if it dies you WILL have heat issues

its a bit of a gutter...

its been on all day running at 39-41temp
that was converting films downloading music and i was downloadin 5 other films....

think i might turnit off tonight

You say your processor fan, is it the stock heatsink and fan or an aftermarked on. On quite a few cpu heatsinks your can just replace the fan.

its just the stock amd fan

do you mind telling me how you clocked 2.81 on yer san diego?

just cos ive bought the same chip and getting the same board!!

Your fan will not run for long. Either replace the fan or get a new cooler, because when the fan dies, you will not want to run your computer at all, for temperature issues.

Ya since its the stock heatsink just measure the size of fan it is, and then order one and replace it. If you wanted you could even get a larger fan and a fan adapter to make it fit.

Ya order on of these, pair it with a 80mm fan and you will have an even better heatsink. I would make sure to get a 3 pin 80mm fan though, so you can still plug it into your mobo, unless it doesn't matter if your cpu fan is at 100% all the time.

Is the damage really that bad? I snapped a blade off my big a** 120mm Panaflo fan (these thing are monsters and NOT cheap) I got a bit of super glue and you would never even guess it was even broken. Just make sure you glue it on as accurate as possible or you will still have vibration problems.

the bearins will hold for a while.. im not so much concerned about that.. however, the vibration does. i would replace the CPU fan, because with a bit of bad lcuk, the vibration looses the heatsink from the CPU,.. and thats bad buisness

yeh!!

i think im gonna just get a replacement because if it does stop and ill prob not realise as my pooter is on 24/7 it is most likely to cause damage and im not far away from selling it :D

thanx for your advice you guys

Just set the motherboard shut down temperature to xx degrees Celsius and if the fan breaks, it will shut down....
