Damn Speedstream DSL...

First out phone card doesn't work with international phone cards... even though it works with other companies...

Now the ROUTER works perfectly... the DSL is crap. It won't even let me forward even with the DSL connected directly to the computer... (witness of brianmay27)... Sooo any suggestions how to deal with this?
 
What programs are you trying to use that you need to forward? Games or apps?

And what brand and model number is your router?

I play Unreal tournament, and I had to set up a DMZ to be able to run it. There should be an option on your router for that.
 
But if the DSL is directly connected to my ethernet port, wouldn't I not have to?

I also have an older type of DSL from my old house (bought 1 as backup) maybe if I hooked the other one up and reset it I could get port forwarding? Or is port forwarding provided by the DSL provider?
 
With the modem connected directly to your computer, enable DMZ and enter the IP for your computer.
 
omega, you dont need it if you have port forwarding. it should do the same thing as port forwardign. that is if you have the right ports open

I know you don't. From what I gathered he wasn't able to get port-fowarding to work, so I suggested him try setting up a DMZ and see if that will work.
 
And eh... how do I get to the configuration page? Do I connect the DSL to my PC, go to command, ipconfig /all or something like that?
 
lol, that will just give you you're current network settings.

You would open a browser and type in the IP of your modem.
 
The reason I had to use DMZ was that my router would not forward enough ports to allow me to do port forwarding, so I had to use DMZ.

I screwed with my settings for months before just saying the hell with it and set up a DMZ.

Possibly, but many routers use that, I would say 192.168.0.1 may work.

If you want to know the IP, click on "status" on the connection in the Network Connections window, click on "support", and then the gateway address should be that of your modem, so try entering that into a browser window.

*Note that you need to be connected directly to the modem, not to a router*
