Dangerous temps?

Are these temps dangerous, i just barely overclocked the i7 920 and i get these temps - 66 Minimum and 75 maximum ???????

Well from mine side i see it. I think it is a big temperature but maybe for you isn´t it. What do you have for kylare?
 
That is quite high, i mean its not processor meltdown-call the fire brigade hot. But id invest in a better CPU cooler to knock those temps down and prevent crashes :D
 
you see you would think that i had an awful cooler to get those temps but i have the v8 coolermaster cooler and its spinning at about 2000 rpm :(
 
I heard that Intel states that if your processor gets above 70C, the CPU's life is decreased by 1 year..and if the CPU gets up to 90C, the processor life is cut in half.

I don't know how well i7 cpu's overclock but I have to say, that is too high to be permanently running at.

As hillbilly said, it will shorten the life of your cpu if you continue running at that temperature. Maybe the HSF isn't seated properly or you need to reapply Thermal Paste.

A good cpu cooler like that shouldn't be running that badly.

Those temperatures are actually rather high for the i7 at stock speeds with that cooler. But, since you aren't running stock, this may be expected.

You should try re-seating the V8. How much thermal grease and what kind did you use?
 
its ok i just turned down the voltages and increased the multiplier and the result was dramatic, im now running it at 3.5ghz and its about 41 degress centigrade although that is not under much load. Thanks for all your help guys but i figured this one out through good old fashioned trial and error
 
although i just checked my GPU temperatures and its reading 60 is that really high and if so how would i lower these temperatures?
 
Whats the airflow like in your case? maybe you need a better case with better cooling?
 
From what to what did you overclock it to?
I have a machine with an i7, and i found that as soon as i established a better airflow AROUND the processor, the cooler it ran... try venting in from the front and out from the back, or the other way around. im going to be experimenting with some liquid cooling on it too
 
err my processor is fine i mean under max strain it wont go above 65, and my graphics card is GTx 295 zotac geforce, is it a particularly hot 1?

I'm not sure about your gpu, but i had an 8400GS, and it would run at like 55c idal, and 85c on max, so some gpus are meant to run hot.

Although my 4670, doesnt get above 42c on max, it idals at 32c, some are built to run hot, some are not.

Oh yes...increasing the voltage on your CPU will definitely affect how much heat it puts off. Don't raise the voltage unless you actually have to when overclocking!

Just curious... What did you have it set to and what did you just lower it to?
