Hi :)

I was wondering. .would a Vantec ION2 520wat PSU be powerful enough to power this graphics card? The specs on the PSU say it has a duel 12 volt rail with 20A each . . . does this mean it is 40A in total?

The requirements for this graphics card are 500W PSU with a 32A 12V rail

Pleas let me know if I am going to have problems if I choose to run it like this.

Thanks

Vantec is made by Topower, which is a mixed bag. Some are decent, some are garbage. Dont know much about that model but no it doesnt have 40 amps. total on the 12V rail. Thats just the max. any one rail can pull. My guess you be around 400W max on the 12V with around 33/34 amps on the 12V.

Its a crap shoot, would probably work but I would look into getting a better one.

Unfortunately I don’t have cash on me to buy a new PSU, do you think there will be consequences using this PSU for the graphics card?

Like I said, it will probably work. As long as you dont have like 4 harddrives, high wattage CPU overclocked, blah blah blah. A GTS 250 doesnt pull that much, thats just the recommended watts and amps. for the average system if your running that card. If one blows, who knows what will happen. Sometimes nothing, sometimes it takes components with it.

I would just look into getting a better one for the long term.
