Wow... I beat the first boss and now im on the second map.... everytime i hit the bone villians they reassemble and they kill me... this game is so hard... any tips?

Matt

Don't do the graveyard area first. They are too strong. Do the undead castle areas.

The game is tough, but each time I repeat an area I get better at it. Now I can breeze through some stuff with ease.

I was able to defeat the first black knight on my first try! I think I backstabbed him about 15 times.

Okay so its not just me... I must of died fifty times already... I have a feeling I really am going to like this game... It was worth the buy.... Where is the castle area your speaking of?

Are you talking about the path up the middle? it seemed very small but everything leads to the graveyard

what a coincident. I just got Demon Soul on sale today for like 1/3 the price. so, how often do i have to die? :D

You want to go the Undead Burg. It's the path to the far right (when starting at the fire on Firelink) that goes up some stairs on the side of the hill.

It's pretty much the opposite way of the graveyard. The guys in the undead burg have simple attacks and are easy to kill once you understand their moves and get a good shield.

The worst thing you can do in this game is to rush a new area, or even old ones. 3 enemies can gang up on you quickly and be a challenge.

Do a search for a Dark Souls guide or walkthrough to help with the beginnings areas. Pretty soon you'll have the hang of it.

Supposedly dark souls is harder.

Dark souls took away the healing grass. So it's not as easy to stockpile healing items. Though I have yet to run out of healing supplies. Usually if I die it's because I rushed an area, or ran in to something big unexpectedly.

Demons souls was incredibly hard even with a full parties most bosses would one shot you if your a magician. The difficulty was manageable to the point where if you got a good amount of healing items you coukd survive. Dark souls, one the other hand, is down right sadistic. One great example is whenever you are able to reach the sewers, you will fall down holes in the floor into dens full of frogs that instantly kill you with curse. On top of the one hit death, you respawn with half hp. And it stacks if you are killed again by curse. On top of that, you will probably have no souls to buy a cure so you have to venture deep inside some ridiculously hard dungeon dodging ghosts you cant damage to find a healer....

Thanks!!! I got pretty far but then I had to fight a knight and he slaughtered me :(

Thanks for the links

ps. how can I call for help from other players? I have an item to travel to someone elses game but it wont allow me

I have not tried the multiplayer stuff yet. There are some items you need to get to do that. Look in those wiki's I linked to and read up on multiplayer.

I think you might only be able to summon to help you with a boss. I did all the bosses so far, solo, and all the ones in Demon's Souls solo. I will probably try to summon eventually.

Make sure you get a good grasp of what the stats do and how they apply to items. One thing you want to do is to get a good shield with 100% damage reduction. Then make sure you have the stats to use it. A lot of the starter shields will still have you taking damage on a block, and that's no good.

The black knights are tough. I find that before taking them on, clear out the area around them. Then find yourself a good spot with lots of room to maneuver. Make him chase you to the open area and then keep circling him until you can get a back stab. The backstab is a skill you should learn asap. It's much easier to pull off instead of a parry. If you miss a parry you can die. If you miss a backstab you still do damage.

You can practice on a lot of smaller enemies until you get it down. One last thing.

Get the drake sword as described this link. It will make life much much easier in the beginning.

My other piece of advise is to work on no more than 1 or 2 hit combo's until you know you can do more. It's a beginning mistake to unload all your stamina on an enemy then you have no stamina to hold your shield when they counter attack. 1 or 2 hits won't drain your stamina down as far and is a more controlled way of fighting.

Plus it builds your patience for the boss fights where getting more than a couple of hits at a time is very tough.

I'm putting off the sewer area until I've done everything else. I'm just dreading the curse stuff.

The swamp level of Demon's Souls was nasty, but I hear the sewer is worse. I do hear that if you go human you get a higher curse resist. I'll probably keep going until I can get whatever curse resist items I can find, plus a handful of cures.

If it's like demon souls, you have to be alive to go to other player worlds, or I think in dark souls they call it become human?? Is that right?

Humanity has a little different meaning in Dark Souls. I'm not completely sure as I haven't done it.

I believe if you are in Human form you can be invaded and have your humanity taken if by another player. I'm not sure if you need to be human to invade. I don't think so, but you since you can farm humanity it shouldn't be that tough.

I need to read up on it now. I have several of the humanity items and I just haven't bothered with them. I know that you can use them to kindle a bonfire. That will give you 10 flasks of healing instead of 5 for each time to rest at that bonfire.
