Darkened old monitor

yeah I bought a Gateway a long time ago but it says Gateway Ev700 on my monitor. anyways my monitor has went really dark and some what blurry.
I can adjust my brightness when I go into into video settings but when I head into a game. the brightness drops back down to default and the games just don't get bright enough in the options to fix this.. can anything be done?

Have you tried the settings on the monitor? If so then you're probably out of luck (although your drviers should support persistent brightness adjust ... well they did back in the days of the good ol' detonators)

yep monitor brightness is turned all the way up... should have at least bough that 15in at the garage sale for $10

The tube's electron cannon can be boosted with higher current to increase the brightness of the image. But don't do this at home! Ask a TV-repair specialist to help.
