data DVD burns then error right at the end!

I've been backing up data on DVDs. The problem is the DVD will burn without issue, then when Nero says it is writing lead out, part way through error message reads "burn failed!" I've had this a few times lately, never had this problem before. Any ideas?

I'm using Nero and getting an updated verison. I have used this version with no problems in the past.
 
Have you tried different brands of DVDs? Be sure to only use name brand discs.
How old is your burner?
Does this happen with CD-Rs or RWs? Or just DVDs? DVD-RWs?
I had a similar problem with CD-RWs. Everything else burned just fine. I had to replace the burner to fix it.

I have used numerous brands. This brand is not a well known one, purchased at a local market for about half the cost of well known brands, but I had previously burnt with this brand with no problems. I've now burnt some more DVDs without problems.
 
Could be just crappy quality discs. If you switched to name-brand ones and the problem vanishes, there's your answer.

Also, it seems from reading the nero forums that Nero v7 is really causing problems, using same hardware where v6 was fine.
 
That's why I searched high and low for Ultra Suite 6 this past summer and got lucky for $52 from that auction place, from a Christian bookstore, of all places! I'd read about far too many troubles with version 7. Maybe that's why I always see version 7 discounted, with huge rebates, at places like Compusa or Best Buy? Ahead is practically trying to GIVE version 7 away and can't!
