I've been desperately trying to recover some data. I have used both TestDisk and Disk Drill.
Recovery appears successful, and I have all the recovered files present (although some file names appear to have the beginning of the title missing and the rest is followed by an underscore and sometimes includes a ~, eg "_pple~1.jpg"), however - most of the files won't open at all. I am using a Mac and the message might be "X file could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
I feel that perhaps it's the older stuff that was perhaps deleted earlier that is suffering this fate most.
This issue is occurring with both jpegs and psd files.
Is there some sort of software or fix for this? Am I using decent enough recovery software?
