Is there a really good program that's easy to use that will allow me to recover files and folders and transfer them to another hard drive if the original drive operating system crashed after a virus? Maybe able to use in DOS?

I don't care if it's not free.

Depending on your setup, you could just download a copy of Linux that runs off of a CD. I've used Feather Linux in the past.

That is, if your files are still there, and you are simply unable to access them due to a screwed up OS. You would be able to copy the files to some kind of thumb drive or disc (as long as you have multiple drives... because one drive will obviously be running the OS)

Of course, this is not exactly what you are looking for, but it should allow you to accomplish your goal of saving your files.
