Me. Just started yesterday after watching a bunch of videos. Got stuck on a night time server, so i messed around for a bit then found a day one. Immediately died on the day one
It's fun and pretty cool, but it's also hard to get a good start.

Yeah it definitely has a steep learning curve, I've died a bunch but once you get the basics down you can be off the beach and armed in just a few minutes.
I'd say the key things to getting started in this game are learning what buildings to loot and how to lose and avoid zombies.

Best bet is to get to one place and all meet up. Seriously this game is soooo much better in a group

Nope, haven't even tried vanilla Arma. I plan to, it seems pretty cool, but I'm one of those guys that bought Arma specifically for DayZ.

Lol oj. Dayz has become pretty unsociable since ye olden days of 1.52. When i first played it, it was easy to find people to hang with. On every server iv been on lately not one person has spoken in side chat.
