DBAN and Windows 7

Hey guys (not too sure if this post is in the right location),
I recently used DBAN to completely wipe my hard drive after consultation and the conclusion that would easily be able to install Windows 7, however now, after selecting my language on the installation screen, I get a window saying "No CD/DVD drivers found". Any ideas on the problem and it's solution?

All help is greatly appreciated,
Bern

Is the windows 7 install cd a burnt copy or a genuine microsoft install dvd? And if this is a burnt copy where did you get it from?

Genuine copy

The same happens when I try my shop bought vista too

I would try using a different dvd drive. Usually this errors refers to a bad original or burnt copy of the install cd. Is this a sata or ide drive dvd drive? If IDE is the jumper set correctly?

It's SATA. It's weird though because I can't see any reason for the DVD drive to be damaged. When the message box appears, I can then manually search for the drivers, and there is no recognition of the hard drive. I genuinely have no idea what to do.

So it doesn't detect the hard drive? Was the drive previously used in a raid or ahci setup?

RAID if I remember

Windows is recognising the D: drive. But there is no C drive. There should be right?

If it was in a raid configuration then thats why windows setup can't see it to install. Not sure if dban worked or not, you may have to download use killdisk to physically delete the whole drive. Do you have another system that you can put this drive in and use disk management to see what the drive is unallocated, uninitialized?

Depending on what you mean by D drive? How many drives are connected to the system right now? Do you only have 1 hard drive and 1 dvd drive? If you attach the drive to another system and use disk management, you can delete the existing partitions easily. Or you can use killdisk and see if that works. But the reason windows can't see the drive is because it was originally part of a raid system and it can't see it without the raid driver installed. So I'm assuming dban didn't do what it was supposed to do.

I should also mention that it will let me install Ubuntu with no problems. That still suggests a dodgy disk, but I can't see why, it's only been out of the case once.

no, that actually suggest that it is because of the RAID. Ubuntu has native RAID drivers from what I have seen. Windows does not. Ubuntu can see the drive, windows can not.

Do as I suggested and use killdisk to totally delete partitions and data on the drive.

In fact I had to do the same thing a couple months ago on my sons system. I used one of my older drives that was used in a raid setup and actually used xp disk management to delete the drive.

Boot up to killdisk and wipe the drive.

Don't have another system to use unfortunately, so I dunno how to use killdisk without an OS

Never mind, found an ISO link. I'll let that run overnight, and come back to you tomorrow. Thanks for your help man, I'd be so stuck without it

Right I'm erasing everything off the hard disk, I shall return tomorrow with yet more problems I assume. Thank you for your help and time
