Ddos Help.

Hello, you can refer to me as Stratos, or OP. But that doesn't really matter. I was playing Minecraft 2 weeks ago, when I got confronted on a Skype group chat that I was going to get Ddosed for supposedly destroying someone's structure on a server.

I originally panicked and sort of freaked out, but my friends calmed me down and help me through my distress. Now today I ran into one of the people who was in the Skype chat on a different server, and he told me that removing him from Skype wouldn't stop him from Ddosing me (I was told by a friend who knows quite a bit about the subject that people can get your ip via Skype).

Now I think that's BS because if he could Ddos me, he wouldn't done it 2 weeks ago, and I have firewall on my laptop, but I'm still a little nervous. Maybe this post is just me calming myself down, because he said that to me 20 minutes ago, but if anyone could enlighten me on the subject, that would be much appreciated. Sorry if what I typed is hard to follow, I when I get riled up it's hard for me to think. Thank you in advance.

If your behind a router, then don't worry about it. For one person, it's going to be pretty hard for him to DDos your system and crash you. Routers have built in blocks for these kind of attacks nowadays. I wouldn't worry yourself with this guys nonsense. If you knew a little more about the dos prompt and gaining access into your router and other little odds and ends you could grab his IP and tell if he's even trying. In other words..again..your router will block any of these kind of attacks and I wouldn't worry.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to add some details. I have a router modem combination, and I have a working firewall on my laptop. Thank you for your advice!

If you wanted you could simply open the DOS prompt and issue the netstat <--command with the following switches -ano; so it's like this netstat -ano

This will display all connections and other useful information. If your behind a home router I wouldn't even worry about it. There are a lot of different techniques you can use to DDoS someone just because they have your IP address doesn't mean your going to get hacked. It's possible

-a = This switch displays active TCP connections, TCP connections with the listening state, as well as UDP ports that are being listened to.

-n = Use the -n switch to prevent netstat from attempting to determine host names for foreign IP addresses. Depending on your current network connections, using this switch could considerably reduce the time it takes for netstat to fully execute.

-o = A handy option for many troubleshooting tasks, the -o switch displays the process identifier (PID) associated with each displayed connection. See the example below for more about using netstat -o.

If your behind a home router like CorruptHawkeyez said, I wouldn't even worry about it.

Ohh yeah, just some more details, the asshat who was going to Ddos/Dos me (whatever floats your boat, or whatever term is correct) said he uses a botnet. Does that affect anything?

There are a lot of different methods and techniques you can use to DoS/DDoS attack someone. ;) IMO, this "asshat" doesn't know what he's doing or talking about.

#1 If he was "really" going to do this he wouldn't tell you and number two he wouldn't be using SKYPE ;).... he would just do it

#2 A botneT? What he is on an IRC CHANNEL with his botnets ready for action? HAHa... You don't need "botnets" to bring down a home computer...and you don't need botnets to DoS/DDoS attack someone either! He doesn't know what he is talking about and it's obvious. You can do this with a single computer, an iphone etc... ... PS there are a lot of DoS and DDoS tools online (free) that let you route through proxies like "TOR" to hide "your information" and perform your attack...

with this retard I would just turn on my firewall and check the log file to see if any unusual traffic is coming your way... PS; I wish somebody was messing with me like that... I would have a field day with his ass. ;)
