DDR or DDR2

I have an older Compaq Presario that runs DDR 1 ram and was wonering if i could get a Video Card that was a DDR 2 or does it have to be DDR 1

These are the ones i am looking at for older games like Quke 4 and Doom 3. Not newer games. And some HD movies.

DDR 1
XFX Geforce 9400GT PCI-E 2.0 512MB DDR Video Card with DVI and TV Output, PVT94GYHH2

DDR2
EVGA GeForce 9500GT 1GB HDTV Video Card
64.99$

Are these good for the things i am trying to accomplish
 
The memory on the graphics card doesn't matter. It's built onto the graphics card.

It's not like you'll buy a graphics card, then have to buy memory for it.

The only things you really need to worry about when buying a video card are:

  • The interface (PCI/AGP/PCI-E)
  • That your power supply can handle it

The type of memory on the video card doesn't mean your system memory has to be the same.

thank you that was all i really needed to know. i honestly dont care about TOP KNOCH graphics. If i wanted that i would just buy the game for my XBOX 360. All i want is a machine that can play online because 99% of games for pc have free online play :cool: If it would play just fine on low graphics that would be fine but currently the integrated graphics have like 64mb of ram so 512mb will be a huge difference
 
Another thing to remember is that it's not the amount of video memory that determines the performance of a video card, it's the actual GPU. For instance they made some low end 1GB cards, but that doesn't mean they perform better then a higher end card with 512MB of memory.

well i bought an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit DDR2 PCI HDCP Ready Video Card
This should do more than everything i want. One last question.
My Comp is has 2.9ghz intel celeron d processor with 1.2 GB of ram and with this card can i play Modern warfare two at low settings. Could care less about high settings.
