DDR Standard?

What does it mean when a mobo says like DDR Standard DDR 400 (PC 3200). Is that the only ram it can take?
 
i means the fastest it can run ram at (without overclocking) is ddr400. You can put faster ram in but it will be down clocked to ddr400, and you can equally put slower ram in, which will be run at whatever speed it should be run at (i.e. it will not be force to run at ddr400).
pc3200 is just another way of saying 3.2GB/s peak memory bandwidth, which is ddr400 ram
 
It's ok to get faster or slower RAM, but you need to know that your motherboard will only run the RAM at it's[motherboard's] maximum allowed speed. So there is no reason to waste money buying a higher speed if you are just going to put it in a lower speed motherboard.
 
Well my main question is it wont harm it in anyway by using a faster or a slower ram. Btw my mobo supports pc 3200.
 
It wont harm it at all. If you buy lower speed it will just run at that speed, and if you buy higher it will just run at whatever the highest your mobo suports.
