Ddr2 > Ddr400 ?

Hello, well I am abit outdated when it comes to computer hardware.
I havent been on since 2005

Could someone tell me the exact differences between the ddr400 ram and the ddr2
-perfomance
-quality

Would I need to update my ram? Twinmos ddr400 x2 512mb

I know I know I have red the Ram 101 thread's

If your current board only support DDR400, then you cant upgrade to DDR2 without getting a new motherboard. If you wanted to, I would personally wait since DDR3 is already out, just wait for it to become more mainstream and until the prices come down.

I mostly play games.

I have Conquer Online 24/7 running and when I play CS:S I also have music playing and Conquer Online playing in the background aswell.

I've got a Foxcon 939 sc motherboard. I'll tell you what number or w/e when I get home

So is ddr2 much faster than ddr400?
 
With a 939 board you cannot use DDR2. If you want to upgrade to DDR2 you will need a new motherboard and CPU as well.

DDR2 is faster but there's not much point in upgrading to it just for the sake of upgrading.

I got a 939sc mboard :/
What type of motherboard do you recommend that is new and fast and compatible with most of the new components around now days.
 
If you want to stick with AMD, then AM2 is currently the latest socket and supports DDR2. Intel still uses LGA775, but released a new chipset (P35), which supports both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM.
