What is the CAS latnecey range what is the jhighest and lowest possible on DDR2 ram? what is the average? how good is 4? I am going to make switch to AM2 soon, and i was looking about ram to buy with it.

The lowest stock i've seen is 3, and the highest i've seen is 5. If you buy a stick of DDR2-800 CL5, you can set it to run at DDR2-667 at CL3, i was able to run mine at 3-3-3-8 @ DDR2-667, which is lower than DDR2-533 stock.

CL4 isnt that bad, but then again it depends on the speed. DDR2-533 CL4 is pretty slow, but DDR2-667+ CL4 is pretty good.

So the one i posted:
Capacity 1GB
Speed DDR2 667 (PC2 5400)
Cas Latency 4
Timing 4-4-4-12
Voltage 2.0V
Is fairly decent since its DDR2 667?

Most motherboards only support up to DDR2-667 right now, so getting DDR2-900 will only help if you OC very high.

how tight do you think the timings could be set on ddr2 800? i've been checking around and many reviews say that higher Hz + high CL turns out low performance, but if you overclock, would it be better to go for tight timings and low Hz or loose timings and high Hz?

I got my DDR2-800 down to around 4-4-4-12, which is low considering that the speed is double that of DDR-400. If you purchase higher quality ram, you may be able to lower the timings to something like 4-3-3-10.
