DDR3 lifecycle

Realistically, how long is ddr3 to stick around?

Mine is under a year old, but have another pc with ddr2 and will be needing a rebuild. When is the question.

If I can hold out for the intro of ddr4 may do so, if it is reasonable and dependable.

In my opinion, DDR3 will be around for at least another 2-3 years before ddr4 takes off. DDR4 prices are still $40 or more higher then DDR3 for an 8gb kit.

It may be worth it to get 'locked in' to the more forward connectors, depending on when ddr3 will phase out and expected board life.

This type of board may also mean usb4 plugs (reversible?) and next gen PCI, etc. A lot to consider. Assuming they all fly and any of them don't fall to the ground.
