DDR3 on a DDR2 board?

I want to know if it will work. I imagine that it will run as if it were ddr2, is that so?

Also if anyone knows what makes ddr3 so different that a ddr2 board wont support it fully?

ddr3 is different to the point that it wont fit in ddr2 slot so its a big no
