Deactivate touchpad clicking?

I'm trying to deactivate the touchpad clicking, so that I don't click every time I just happen to touch it when typing, but I can't figure out how to do it.
The laptop is a Fujitso Siemens ("Amilo") with Windows Vista installed.

Can anyone please help?

Is there about above the pad??? You should be able to hit that and it does it???

If not, have a look under control panel.

Try looking through mouse properties in control panel.

There should be an option like "Disable touch pad when mouse is plugged in."

Or if you don't have a mouse plugged in, there should be an option called "Disable TouchPad when typing" or something along those lines.

I've checked all the options for the mouse in the control panel, but I didn't find anything. I don't even have a tab for synaptics touchpad. As for mouse, I don't have one at the moment and won't for a while or so either, so I can't just plug that in. There's no button above the touchpad to deactivate the clicking, but I can use a button combination to make it stop reacting all together. But then I can't even move the cursor, so that's no good either.

Anyone got any other ideas?

You need to download the latest driver from synaptics and then when the icon loads in the clock area, you need to right click and uncheck "tap to click".

dont do that, they are generic, download them from your individual manufacturer or you may not get the full feature set

This worked for me when I installed Vista to dual boot and there were no synpatics driver on dells site for my model.
