dead laptop & mp3 player question

I have this laptop thats pretty much dead, windows doesnt boot up right and my ac adapter has a short in the wire.

Ill be traveling in a few days and im wondering if i can charge a usb device (ipod or other mp3 player) from it. I want to buy a new ac adapter just for charging an mp3 player, but spending money on it would be pointless if i cant do it.

The laptop is an hp compaq nx6310 if that helps any.

yes you can, as long as the laptop stays on lol, and you can fix the boot problem by rebooting it, i mean if its "dead" to you, send it to me! =D
