dead motherboard ?

hey guys, so i left my computer running all night like i always do and when i came back to get on it the screen was flashing like it was not getting a signal , i restarted it and nothing ( not even a POST ) there are no beeps or noises besided the fans turning on .. i thought it was the video card , so i switched it out with a know good and still the same thing . I also changed the ram and hard drive still nothing. This leads me to think the mother board is trash ? any suggestions or comments would be great .

Well at least you know it's not the video card, hard drive, or RAM. The only thing that's left would be the motherboard or power supply. Try switching out the power supply and if that doesn't fix it, then assume it's the motherboard.

im not sure its the power supply , every thing turns on , all the LED lights , water cooling system , video card fans spool up and the CD drive is operational, thats why i assumed it was the mother board and whats really odd is it dose not run a POST or even attempt to start loading windows

I think the easiest way would be to do with the jumpers.. Check your motherboard manual, if not look at the motherboard closely for a 3-pin jumper with two pins caped by a plastic thingy, it should say CMOS near it. Then move that plastic thing over one pin, wait a couple of seconds then set it back

You can try clearing the CMOS but it still could be the power supply.
Swap it for a working compatible one from another machine. If it still won't post, then you'll know it's the motherboard.

This sounds like the problem I ended up having. I bought a new mb and the computer started right up with a picture on the screen but after about 10 minutes it shut down I think my psu went bad and fried the last board so I haven't tried to restart the computer again yet until I go buy a new power supply this weekend best of luck

My machine was doing this same type of thing, I've got a thread in here about it. I ended up unhooking all my drives, optical, HDD, and Floppy. For some reason with the floppy unhooked it works fine...

How did everyone end up fixing the problem? I still have mine. The drive that i think is bad just pull the power on it. Make the other harddrive the slave install the operating system on it then try to hook the old drive back up again to get the files off of it?
