dead pixels?

ok recently after moving my monitor around, it has developed an interesting problem.

- There is a perfect vertical line (about 4inches long)
- it looks like dead pixels but when i move at different angles it changes color.
- these colors correspond to the LCD pixel colors CMY (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)
- if it were dead pixels would it stay the same color?

could it be missing pixels and only light is showing through them?

Any suggestions?

pixel massages, random color noise, etc.. doesn't do anything.

What it looks like it that 1/3 of the pixel is dead but if only 1/3 of it were dead, shouldn't it only show the two remaining colors?

EDIT: Another thing, if i turn the monitor off, i can see a tiny line where the dead pixels are so what i'm thinking is there may be a hairline crack in the actual LCD and there is just light pouring through it. Anyone agree or have an alternate conclusion?

Over 2 years old, not under warranty. Its not too bad, the crack is so thin i have to really look for it and it only shows up when the screen shows a bright color. I was just wondering if it was dead pixels or something and I just figured out it was a crack.

dont know how the law works over there but in NZ we got a think called the Consumer Gurantees act which says that a product should last a decent lenght of time and i think a LCD screen should last longer then two years

I don't think Im going to go through any trouble to contact acer since it was my fault that it got a crack in it. The screen is completely usable, i can hardly see the crack unless the screen is white.
