Dealing with a nasty virus: Can't connect to the internet

A few hours ago I got redicted to a bad webpage which seemed to infect my computer. It has caused my computer to not allow ANY programs to be opened and now I am in safe mode trying to get things done. EDIT: I just discovered that my 2nd operating system on the computer is running. I had a Windows 7 partition and a Windows XP partition. So I am installing all of the virus software and will get back to you guys after I run all of them.

You will need to boot into safe mode for whatever os is infected.
Download and run rkill.scr and then try running malwarebytes. You may have to run a few times in a row in order for it to get past the infection. Do not reboot the system after running it until after malwarebytes has scanned your system. Post logs from malwarebytes and hijackthis.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

I remember the first time this happened to me. I was mad as hell with the customer service hotline of my provider thinking that it was their service that was crappy. Until I googled it and learned that it was possible that could have infected and prevented me from accessing the internet. I didnt have any partition that time with different OS, I just reformatted and was back to normal again.

The internet was working for a few minutes after running rkill, enough time for me to update malwarebytes. It's not working again now though, and I know it's not my internet connection because I'm on the other partition now and it's working fine. Here are the logs.

I noticed you have superantispyware installed, can you make sure its updated and run a full scan on your system and post the log. The log will be found by clicking on preferences on the main page and then click on the statistics/logs tab and then open the log and copy and paste back here.

I still can't get it to connect to the net, so I don't think I will be able to update it. Should I still run it and post the logs?

I'm sorry, I should have told you to run rkill again so that you can update superantispyware. If rkill produces a log at the end that says what processes it has killed can you tell me what they are?

The first time I opened rkill, it said it killed a couple things. Now all it says it just rkill itself. Even after using it, it still won't let me connect to the internet unfortunately.

REboot the machine and try again. Are you using IE for your broswer? Try going to internet options, then the connections tab, click on lan settings, make sure proxy server is unchecked.

Thats one of the most common things that malware like to change to make you lose internet connection and only allow there stuff to run.
