I've decided to buy an alienware m9750, therefore I am wondering what upgrades I should get on it? I am willing to spend an additional $300 on upgrades. What is geforce 8700 equivalent to?

Second, is it possible to hook up logitech speakers, and keyboard on a laptop?

Thank yo

i'm not sure if the 8700 has an ATi counterpart but it should pretty much play most games right now on high settings.

keyboard no problem, just hook it up to a USB or PS2 port depending on what kind of keyboard. speakers will depend if you're laptop has 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 channel support.

ok thanks.

What upgrades should I get on my laptop? Should I get nvidia quadro fx?

also is m9750 5.1 or 7.1?

Great choice on the m9750. If you could spend $300 on upgrades, I would get dual 8700 cards which are a $350 upgrade, and 4gb ram from newegg.com for around $100, and I would not recommend this laptop if it did not have atleast these parts.

Hey guys, I just ordered the laptop. So as some said, I should buy ram and HD from newegg correct? Which 1 should I buy? and how can I install it? I have no experience with laptops what so ever.

Second, should I get a 7.1 logitech stereo or a 5.1? a 5.1 would fit into m9570 correct?

Lastly, is 8700 g92?

Thank you

Thank you

You do know that performing this upgrade yourself will probably invalidate the warranty? I don't know exactly what Alienware's (Dell's) terms are, but usually if you open your laptop, you void the warranty.

To find out which RAM you need, it's probably best to wait until the laptop arrives, then head off to www.crucial.com and run their system scanner. It will tell you exactly what your laptop has in it, and what RAM you can purchase to upgrade. It will even ask you to buy it from them!!! (It's a rip off. . . don't do it!)

It'll give you information like DDR2 or DDR3, 200-Pin (DDR2) or 204 Pin (DDR3) etc. You can then use that to help you choose, or post back here, and we'll help you with it. A screenshot might be helpful (PrtScr button, or usually FN+PrtScr button on a laptop). You can upload to imageshack.us or whatever.

Hope this helps :D

PS Might want to start a new thread - this one seems dead.
